About Steven
Steven has spent more than twenty years leading change inside large, regulated companies in pharmaceuticals, technology and engineering, across Europe, the United States, India, Japan and China. His roles have included Chief Digital Officer, CIO and VP Transformation, Global Head of Business Architecture, and Head of Lean Six Sigma and Quality. His doctorate (DBA, University of Portsmouth) followed a global shared-services programme across five service centres. It found that the limit on a programme is set by the state of the business around it, not by how hard the team works. He is most productive when a business needs to change how it runs and the change is not holding. His work covers operating model design, shared services, process design and scaling, digital strategy, and KPIs that show whether a change is working. He advises chief executives, sponsors and boards, and takes interim roles such as programme director or change lead. For start-ups, scale-ups and SMEs, he helps put a solid foundation under the strategy, business model and improvement work. Work starts with a conversation, then a diagnosis that takes weeks rather than months. The business receives a written diagnosis it can act on with or without him, a clear order of what starts and what stops, and decision rights agreed in writing before anything moves. If the business does not need him, he says so. He designs changes with the people who will work inside them. Advisory is retained, consulting has a fixed scope, and interim work has an agreed end date and a successor in place before he leaves. Executive and team coaching is available separately through his ICF-accredited practice. He is based in Basel and works in English and German.
