The Fracxio origin story
In 2023, after stepping away from an Adelaide-based software startup, Rhys found himself at a career crossroads. With a career spanning business advisory and economic development in local government, hospitality management, wine education, e-learning, and even a stint as a radar technician in the Royal Australian Navy, Rhys was a true generalist — a jack of many trades, master of none.
At 48, the question loomed: What now?
One enduring (and often underestimated) superpower Rhys possessed was his ability to connect people and ideas. Within just a few weeks of reaching out to his network, four businesses expressed interest in working with him in senior roles — but none could commit to a full-time hire. The solution? Four part-time roles.
Just like that, Rhys became a Fractional Executive.
By 2024, it became clear this wasn’t just a stopgap — it was a viable business model. But to make it sustainable, something more was needed: a consistent pipeline of opportunities, reduced admin overhead, and a smarter way to market this kind of work.
Fracxio was born in May 2024 — created to support fractional executives and the businesses that need them.
Later that year, Rhys connected with Prabhakar and Reid, and together with a handful of early collaborators, they began shaping Fracxio into something more than just a tool — a multidisciplinary consultancy and ecosystem. Through a series of whiteboard sessions, strategy calls, and coffee-fuelled brainstorms, the idea solidified. In 2025, Fracxio was formally registered by Rhys, Reid, and Prabhakar.
Each co-founder brought their own superpowers to the table. Today, the team is on a mission to unlock the superpowers of other fractional executives — helping them thrive and helping businesses around Australia (and beyond) access the talent they need, without the constraints of traditional hiring.
